Atheists, do you find it hard to respect religious beliefs?

I find it much easier to respect what seem to be sincere beliefs than to respect beliefs clung to out of fear and ignorance. When people tell me I should believe in God because it's comforting, or because it's better than believing that I'll just cease to exist when I die I know they believe out of a need for comfort. When people tell me I should believe so I don't go to hell I know they believe out of fear. When people tell me I should believe because it takes too much faith to believe that the universe just happened, I know they believe out of ignorance.
